CanadaMajor revision of the titanium tip
Whereas previous updates of the titanium tip mainly involved the fins (more, fewer, fluted or not) and the spiral air channels, this one is more of a ground-up redesign. This time around there's considerably more mass (it's still very light, it's just more titanium overall), and while it still heats up faster than a stainless tip, it holds on to and distributes the heat differently. So far I've found it more tolerant to user error -- you can go a bit farther past the click without combusting -- and you get a little bit more mileage per heat cycle, in terms of vapour production. The only downside I've noticed relates to the shift down to two o-rings from the previous four. While this makes insertion/removal easier, it does mean more heat is transferred to the stem/body. There's no longer an o-ring 'bumper' between the tip and the body, so there's metal-on-metal or metal-on-wood contact. If you're using wooden stems like the Nonavong or Hydravong you're going to want to make sure to wax them frequently so they don't dry out and crack from the stress. Easy enough, and should be part of your routine anyway if you want your wooden pieces to last.
