If your DaVinci IQ2 is giving off a funky smell or just isn’t performing up to standard, it may be time for a deep cleaning. We’ll walk you through all the steps to get your IQ2 back in tip top shape.
How to clean the DaVinci IQ2: What you’ll need
To get started, you’ll only need a few household items:
- A few cotton swabs
- Rubbing alcohol
- Small dish for soaking
Take it apart
First, we’ll take out all of the pieces that need a cleaning. Remove the mouthpiece from the top lid and take off the silicone cover. The silicone shouldn’t need much work, so set this off to the side for now. To remove the flavor chamber, take the hooked end of the stir tool and insert it along the edge of the chamber and pry it out. Use the stir tool again to remove the flavor chamber cap. Lastly, twist the Pearl counterclockwise and remove it.
What to soak
Take your small dish and fill it up with enough rubbing alcohol to submerge the pieces. Grab the flavor chamber and cap, the pearl, the mouthpiece, and drop them in to soak. A thorough cleanse should only take a few hours, but stubborn messes can take longer. Once they look spotless and ready to go, remove them and rinse off well before setting out to dry.
Clean the flavor chamber compartment
While the small pieces are soaking, take your IQ2 and look down into the flavor chamber compartment. Deep down in the bottom lies a small silicone gasket, and it’s probably gunked up. Owners of the original DaVinci IQ are quite familiar with this trouble spot. In short, the original IQ’s oven holes are not lined up with the opening of the silicone gasket. This caused vapor to hit against the surface of the gasket before making its way to you, making a sticky mess that was very hard to clean.
To resolve this in the IQ2, DaVinci lined up the pathways for a straight shot to the mouthpiece. It’s better but not perfect, as residue still builds up, but it is a step in the right direction. To clean it up, take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and wipe down every bit of the gasket that you can. Push it into the small opening and give it a few twists and turns. Do this as many times as needed, and then finish it off with a dry swabbing
Wipe out the oven and put it back together
To clear out the oven, take another damp cotton swab and wipe all around the bottom and sides of the chamber, and then follow up with a dry swab.
Once your flavor chamber and other pieces are done drying, you can throw it back together. Put the small cap onto the flavor chamber and insert it back into its compartment, cap side up. Slip the silicone cover back onto the mouthpiece and place it onto the lid. Then, take the small Pearl and twist clockwise onto its threading.
Run another burnoff
We’ll run a burnoff to make sure all of the pieces are good to go for a fresh session. Close the oven chamber and turn on your IQ2. Click once to set it into precision mode, bump it all the way up to 430°F/221°C, and let it run a full cycle. Once you don’t smell any alcohol, you’re good to go with a spotless DaVinci IQ2!
Tips for a cleaner vape
At the end of every session, clear any debris out the oven with a quick brush. The longer a spent load sits, the worse it gets, so make a habit of brushing it out after your last hit. It’s also a good idea to check the flavor chamber once in a while. Take it out and give it a quick wipe down to prevent large buildups. If it’s pretty nasty, that means it’s time for another cleaning!
