Thick vapor & wide open airflow
The good news is, the new Arizer Air II has the same great vapor production and flavor found in the original Arizer Air. In fact, the improved airflow and more powerful heater combine for thicker, stronger hits. We tested the Solo 2 side by side with the Air 2 and noticed a more open airflow on the Air 2. Despite the big clouds, you can expect tasty vapor that’s easy to achieve with light pulls.
90 second heat up time
Improved airflow and heating power comes at a cost, and unfortunately, it’s heat-up time. It takes around 90 seconds for the Arizer Air II to get up to temp, which feels long compared to the 30-second heat up times we’re used to seeing as of late. Next to the Solo II, it feels like a long wait to start vaping.
Same shape and size
The Arizer Air 2 adopts an identical footprint to the original Arizer Air, in a comfortable, compact cylinder. There are some changes to the overall look, including Mystic Blue and Carbon Black color options, and a slightly different taper and edging to match the Solo 2. The round DC charging plug makes way for a USB charging port, making it easier to charge just about anywhere. Finally, the buttons extend further down the device to make room for a full temperature OLED and controls.
Full temperature control
The original Arizer Air showed battery and temperature levels with blinking colored lights, which is compact, but not all that intuitive. A slightly larger button panel on the Air II lets you see the temperature in Celsius or Fahrenheit, as well as the battery level, without pressing anything. There’s no app, but the Air 2 still allows you to customize the auto shut-off timer, screen brightness, and the reminder beep volume, with an option to mute it. It’s a small screen, but it quickly communicates the temperature and battery level at a glance.
Turning on the Air used to involve holding both buttons down for 3 seconds to prevent accidental power-ups, and the Air 2 comes out of the box set to 6 seconds. For those that don't want to wait, the two button press on the Air 2 can be set down to two seconds to make it easier to start vaping. Another small addition that feels like a well thought out feature.
Solid battery life + swappable
Like the original, the Arizer Air 2 has a trick up its sleeve -- swappable batteries. We found one battery kept the Air 2 running for 75 minutes at 390° F, enough for 7 or 8 ten minute sessions, about one or two more sessions than the original Air. When that’s done, simply swap it out or plug the vape into a USB port to charge. Even on a long trip, a couple extra batteries could keep you going all day without needing to stop to charge. Add an external 18650 wall charger and you'll never need to plug the new Air 2 in.
Arizer update hits the mark
The original Arizer Air has been a Planet of the Vapes favorite because of its hybrid heating, great vapor quality, ease of use, and swappable battery. The Air 2 keeps those features we love and adds full digital temperature control, easy to read OLED screen, and intuitive, round buttons. The battery level is easy to check right on the screen, so you know when it’s time to swap batteries or charge up. The new wide open airflow is matched with the same quality vapor we expect from Arizer making the Air 2 easy to recommend to anyone.
Heat up times are the same as they have been, but that’s hardly a problem at 90 seconds for a vaporizer with so many strong points. The Arizer Air 2 is priced at CAD$216.99, making it a competitive option with the PAX 3 and DaVinci IQ.
