Storz & Bickel Crafty+ First Look

Storz & Bickel Crafty+ First Look

The original Crafty was already a top-shelf vaporizer, and the Crafty+ faithfully carries that torch.

Don’t look now, but Storz & Bickel just released the Crafty+, the updated successor to the already-excellent Crafty vaporizer, that first debuted in 2014. The Crafty vaporizer has always tempted us with fantastic vapor and a lot of features, but was saddled with reliability issues. Enter the Crafty+, with improved internals that address the shortcomings of the original, while keeping the excellent vapor we love so much. If this version can handle the rigors of heavy portable use, we’ll finally have Storz & Bickel quality on the go, without having to grab the much larger Mighty.

Key features

The original Crafty was already a top-shelf vaporizer, and the Crafty+ faithfully carries that torch. The vapor is amazing - tasty and punchy, with so little effort. It uses the patented Storz & Bickel hybrid heating system to fully extract the essence of your herbs, every time. Battery life is still on the short side, but even most heavy users will be able to get through a night on a single charge (six bowls and 40 minutes of runtime on our first full charge). It’s fully customizable when paired with the smartphone app, but has enough on-board control to work fine out of the box, without any tweaks.

First impressions

The visible changes from the Crafty to the Crafty+ are subtle, but enough to differentiate the two. The logos are still in the same places, but each has changed slightly, and the radiator-style fins are now curved and less prevalent. The significant improvements are to the internals, and should make the Crafty+ more durable and reliable. Only time will tell if they are successful. What hasn’t changed, is the superior vapor. Storz & Bickel makes amazing vaporizers, and the Crafty+ is easily one of the best portables available. There are very few vaporizers that perform this well and still fit in your pocket.

Our take

The Crafty is a top-shelf vape that just keeps getting better. Unfortunately, the original came with issues that made the larger, more-reliable Mighty the first choice for most, between the two. If the Crafty+ vaporizer can throw off those limitations, we could see it rise up the charts. With an improved circuit board and outer housing, we have high hopes for this little beast. We have more details on the way in our full review, and we like what we see so far.
