A Look Ahead to Vaping in 2019

In 2018 vaporizers got smaller, cheaper, more fashionable -- we expect an even better 2019.

We hope you’ve recovered from all your celebrating and are ready for another great year! Vaporizing is more popular than ever, and we’re just getting started. In 2018 vaporizers got smaller, cheaper, more fashionable and more advanced -- all trends we expect to see continue into 2019. With the wisdom of hindsight, let’s take a quick look at last year and see what might be in store for the upcoming months.

2018

Arizer kicked off 2018 in strong fashion with the ArGo, packing their tasty tech in a form factor we’ve always wanted. Four months later, they dropped prices across the board with an extended sale that raised the bar for what we expect from an entry-level vaporizer.

As concentrates got more popular, so did our options. Puffco introduced the Peak, a highly polished electronic nail that proved dabs can be safe and easy. Dr Dabber followed suit with a bigger e-nail, with cutting edge induction-heating technology.

Portable convection vaporizers got a big boost with the Ghost MV1 and the Haze Square, but then Haze closed shop at the end of the year. Meanwhile, conduction portables proved they are here to stay with solid releases like Flowermate’s Nano and Slick, the Boundless Boundless CFC 2.0 and DaVinci’s MIQRO.

Style matters, and Batman’s wardrobe got a boost with all-black vapes, like the Stealth MV1 and the Shadow M from Dynavap. Meanwhile, PAX went flashy, dropping a hot Fuchsia PAX 3 on us just before the year ended.

Rumors are fun, and a PAX 4 seems to be a favorite, but we have nothing confirmed yet. Early in 2018 Storz & Bickel hinted at a new portable in 2019, and later announced they were purchased by Canopy - hopefully, we get a new vape out of the deal! 2018 ended strong for the vaporizer industry, and the year ahead already looks promising!

2019

Fast out of the gate, we’ve already added our first concentrate-only vaporizer, the Saionara (Sai for short), for top-shelf portable performance that’s truly affordable. We spent a good amount of 2018 testing out all the Sai options, and now we’re ready to bring them to you!

We expect the e-nail trend to continue, with at least one cheaper option coming in the first quarter of 2019. High-end vape lovers should have something to look forward to from Minivap, while the budget-minded wait for Boundless’s $65 CFC Lite.

One of our best sellers, the POTV X MAX Starry, is getting an internal makeover to perform even better and last longer. We’ve improved the air flow, the battery compartment and insulation, and added vibration feedback for an incredible value! Look for these improvements in the next couple months.

Planet of the Vapes will keep searching for and testing the best vapes we can find, and we’re adding a new one in the first quarter that could be our most popular vape yet! Keep an eye out for that, while we bulk up to bring you even more news, reviews, tips, and all the most important vaporizing info. Get ready for a great ride in 2019 - we’re buckling up over here!
